James Willard Dunn

87 year old James Willard Dunn of Smithville died Thursday at NHC of Smithville. He was an Army Veteran who served in the Korean War and a member of the Center Hill Brethren In Christ. He was also a retired carpenter, cabinet builder, and farmer. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Steffee will officiate and burial will be in the Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Pedigo Dunn; wife, Shirley Dunn; and four brothers, Eugene, Lonnie Joe, Olan, and Harley Dunn. Survivors include a brother, William Harvey Dunn of Smithville. Three sisters-in-law, Ella Rhea and Tommy Hale of Alexandria, Sandra and Roger Kirby of Cookeville, and Brenda Colwell of Smithville. Special cousin, Rodney Young of Smithville. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Karen Blair Jacobs

Mrs. Karen Blair Jacobs age 53 of Smithville, went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday afternoon, October 26, 2017 at The Sarah Cannon Center at Centennial Medical Center. She was born December 26, 1963 to her parents, Betty Hollis Blair and the late Wayne Blair. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Rachel Todd Hollis and Howard and Annie Opal Blair; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Louise Jacobs. Mrs. Karen was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ and taught in the DeKalb County School System for 30 plus years. A lady that had such a heart and love for people. She leaves to cherish so many wonderful memories, her husband, Shawn Jacobs of Smithville; 2 children, Justin (Macy) Nokes and Caitlin Jacobs and special friend, Joel Wilkerson of Smithville; her mother and special dad, Betty Blair and JR Redmon of Smithville; step-mother, Sue Blair of Smithville; brother, Keith (Amanda) Blair of Smithville; step-sister, Vicki Haggard of Smithville; step-brother, Tim Adcock of Jackson; nieces and nephews, Kathryn, Anna Rachel, and William Blair, Ryan and Katie Sue Haggard all of Smithville and Jackson and Caroline Adcock of Jackson; many, many friends too numerous to mention and all of her students. Funeral services celebrating Mrs. Karen’s life will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Smithville Church of Christ with Bros. Tim Woodward, Dan Gulley and Alex Woodward officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Loriann Michelle Love Kelsey

Loriann Michelle Love Kelsey age 49 of Smithville passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at her residence. She was born May 6, 1968 to her parents, Dianna Cantrell Atnip and the late Ronnie Joe Love. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Bill and Bertha Cantrell, Alton Love and Evelyn Ervin. She attended the Smithville Church of God and was a CNA at NHC HealthCare. Survivors include 1 daughter, Leslie Love of Smithville; 1 son, Dakota Kelsey of McMinnville; 3 grandchildren, Riley Pegg, Cameron Morris, Adison Love; mother, Dianna Atnip of Smithville; 1 brother, Wade Love of Lebanon; 2 sisters, Amanda (Michael) Savage of Smithville and Ashley Hobbs of Smithville; 5 nieces, Raven, Skylar, Kinsley and Kylee Savage and Ireland Hobbs; special cousin, Anthony Cantrell; 3 special friends, Charles Preston, Tamyra Taylor, Tracie Walls Fann; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday, October 26, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Edwenia Bain Scott

Edwenia Bain Scott age 90 of Smithville passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. She was born January 10, 1927 to her parents, the late Charlie Edgar and Ethie Lee Tittsworth Bain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Robert Ray Scott; 3 brothers, Dorris Lee Bain, Jack Smith Bain and John Thomas Bain; 2 sisters, Lois Mason Bain Alexander and Charlene Bain Scott. Ms. Edwenia was a faithful member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and was a factory worker and family seamstress. For 40 something years, she was the caretaker of the Tittsworth and Sanders Cemeteries, she kept scrapbooks and liked finding word puzzles. She is survived by her son, Eddie Scott of Eufaula, OK; 1 grandchild, Ashley Scott of Eufaula, OK; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Thursday, October 26, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bill Robertson and Ricky Scott officiating and burial will follow in Tittsworth Cemetery. Larry Keith Montgomery

Larry Keith Montgomery was born March 20, 1949 @ Buffalo Valley, son of the late Haskel Hayden Montgomery and Gladys Lee Maxwell Montgomery and de- parted this life on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at the age of 68 yrs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Montgomery and sisters, Ruth Daniels and Ruby Manick. Larry is survived by his wife, Jenny Bell Vickers Montgomery; daughter, Penny (Tim) Hayes; son, Dennis (Michelle) Montgomery; grandchildren, Amber Montgomery, Jessica Plattenburg, Nikki Clark, John and Madison Hayes; great grandchildren, Billy and Conner Clark; sister, Mary Crook; brothers, Jerry (Alma) Montgomery and Carl (Lois) Montgomery; nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Pallbearers, Gary, David, Randy and Patrick Crook, Joe and Bobby Vickers, Tim Hayes. Reba Moser Stewart

Reba Moser Stewart age 83 of the Blue Springs Community passed away Saturday night, October 21, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. She was born in Liberty on March 19, 1934 to her parents the late Marlon and Ophia Hubbard Moser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Billy Stewart; son, Mark Anthony Stewart and 1 sister, Nina Moser Turner. Reba attended school in Liberty and worked at the shirt factory and Genesco. She was a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church, member of Smithville Senior Citizens, and took care of the Blue Springs Community Center for many years. Reba loved people and was very active in community activities. She is survived by 2 sons, David (Janice) Stewart and Phillip (Peggy) Stewart both of Smithville; 5 grandchildren, Paula (Robert) Farris and D.J. (Megan) Stewart, Salana Letsinger, Joey Young, Bryan (Cindy) Young; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Willie (Linda) Moser of Smithville; 1 special niece, Tammy Moser and 1 nephew, Tyson Moser. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bernard Houk and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday 5 PM until 8 PM and Wednesday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Alice Faye Cole

Alice Faye Cole age 74 of Smithville passed away Sunday morning, October 22, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Cookeville. She was born September 15, 1943 to her parents, the late Woodrow Wilson and Annie Lorene Jaco Knowles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Benjamin Eugene and Bryan Wayne Cole; 1 grandson, Jacob Lucion Cole; 2 brothers, Doyle Wayne and James Calvin Knowles and 2 infant brothers. Faye was a member of the Church of Christ and retired from Federal Mogul. She is survived by 1 grandson, Benjamin Lee (Sarah) Cole of Sparta; 1 great-granddaughter, Sierra Walker of Sparta; daughter-in-law, Cindy Cole of Sparta; 3 sisters,Stella Dyer, Linda (Steve) Hale and Anita (Eddie) Moore all of Smithville; 3 brothers, Gerald (Altie) Knowles, Donald (Donna Kay) Knowles and Melvin Knowles all of Smithville; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives also survive. 43 year old Misty Lee Ross of Smithville passed away Saturday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. She was a member of the Mt. View The Baptist Church and she worked with the Department of Human Services. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dennis Wood will officiate and burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Ross. Survivors include a son, Benjamin Lee Felton; a daughter, Maggie Fay Felton; and parents, Rick and Helen Young Lee all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Richard Wayne Nixon

Richard Wayne Nixon age 63 of Watertown, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare in Lebanon. Born Sept. 3, 1954 in Smith
County, he was the son of Nettie Ann Foutch Nixon and the late Billy Finis Nixon. Richard attended Watertown High School and was a carpenter and farmer. He is survived by his sons, Jason Nixon of Knoxville and Jeffrey (Sarah) Nixon of College Grove; grandchildren, William and Mary Nixon; mother, Nettie Ann Nixon of Watertown; brother, Billy Gerald (Brenda) Nixon of Watertown; niece, Rachel (Jackie) Russell of Pleasant Shade and great nephew, John Russell. 57 year old Martin Arnold of McMinnville died May 12, 2016 at his residence. A graveside service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Kenneth Mansell will officiate. At the time of his death, Arnold was preceded in death by his father Landon Arnold. At the time of his death, he was survived by his mother Lera Arnold. He is survived by a daughter, Misty Arnold of McMinnville. Sisters, Cathy Mansell of Morrison, Janice and Paul Ward of Smithville, and Hope Knight of Morrison. Grandchildren, Garrett and Kendra Arnold of McMinnville, Gabriel and Sara Arnold of McMinnville, and Abigail Britton of McMinnville. A great grandson, Jonah Arnold.
