Dorothy Reis

96 year old Dorothy Reis of Hendersonville passed away on September 14, 2017 at NHC of Smithville. She was a life long member of the Episcopal Church. There will be a celebration of life service held at St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church (103 Country Club Drive Hendersonville, TN. 37075) on Friday, September 22. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. with the church service to begin at 10 a.m.
Dorothy is survived by 1 son-Sterling Batte, III of Cookeville; 1 Daughter-Barbara Parks of Utah; Step-Daughters-Becky Davis and Barbara Thompson of Smithville; 5 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; and Special Caregiver-Judy Chastang.
She was preceded in death by her parents-Jeptha William and Willie Quin East; Husbands-Dr. Sterling A. Batte, II and William Arthur Reis; Grandson-Issac Parks.
Dot, as she was called by her friends, had a long career as a social worker with the state of Tennessee. She was an avid UT fan and attended games into her late 80’s. She loved to travel having toured all continents but one.

Vickie Elizabeth Womack

57 year old Vickie Elizabeth Womack of McMinnville passed away Tuesday at her residence. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Womack; parents, Estel and Ruby Pedigo Summers; a brother, Jerry Summers; and a sister, Kim Young. Survivors include a son. Jeremy and Chasity Womack; a daughter, Bethany and Micah Nunley; and a granddaughter, Nadia Nunley all of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Mr. Jackie Martin

Mr. Jackie Martin, age 69, of Defeated Creek, died Monday evening, September 11, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He is survived by: wife, Sandra Lamberson Martin; 2 children, Neely Martin Oldham and husband Matt of Defeated Creek, Jason Martin and wife Kelli Petty Martin of Defeated Creek; 3 siblings, Susanne Martin Tisdale and husband Ricky of Defeated Creek, Teresa Martin Clay and husband George of Defeated Creek; Johnny Martin and wife Shirley Albritton Martin of Defeated Creek; 5 grandchildren, Jackson and Cassie Oldham, Eli, Ty and Riley Martin.
Mr. Martin is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his service will be conducted on Friday morning, September 15, at 11:00 AM. Bro. Jimmy Gregory will officiate. Interment in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are: Ricky Givens, Ricky Anderson, Rue Alan Dillehay, Charles Givens, David West, Billy Thompson, Leslie Bush and Scott Edens; Honorary pallbearers are: Chip Hailey, Garry Nesbitt, Jacky Carver Sr, Randy Martin, Jeff Hudson, Kaleb Bush, Austin Clay, Jackie Oldham and George Clay.
Visitation at the Carthage Chapel will begin on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.

Sharon Ann Bouldin

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN resident Sharon Ann Bouldin, age 65, was born June 11, 1952 and died September 12, 2017 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN following a brief illness.
A technician with Bridgestone, a former loan officer with Warren County Bank for 20 years, and a member of New Union The Baptist Church, she was the daughter of Nell Rankhorn of McMinnville and the late John Lenard Rankhorn.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jeff Walls of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Lily Ann Walls, Emily Rose Walls, and Johnathan Troy Walls all of McMinnville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Garry McBride of Smithville, TN and Tamara and Marty Hensley of Rock Island, TN; brother, Michael Rankhorn of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 in High’s Chapel with Garry McBride and Marty Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in New Union Cemetery, Belk in DeKalb County, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at High’s.

Doyle Reed Taylor age 92 of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning, September 7, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. He was born March 6, 1926 to his parents, the late Martin and Novie Yates Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Taylor; son-in-law, James Keeley; 3 brothers, Solon, Albert and James Taylor; 5 sisters, Carnell Keith, Elizabeth Young, Patty Trusty, Barbara Fuson and Jo Parton. Doyle was a Methodist and Vice-President of Furniture Wholesalers and U.S. Army Veteran having served in WWII. He is survived by 3 children, Jeanette (Cliff) Stephens of Smyrna, Patricia Keeley of Mt. Juliet and Tony (Donna) Taylor of Ashland City; 5 grandchildren, Richie Stephens, Christi McDonald, Stoney Keeley, Brandi Scott, and Chelsea Lee; 9 great-grandchildren, Cody Allen, Maddux McDonald, Makenna McDonald, Aiden Scott, Trixie Scott, Corin Scott, Maddie Barnes, Gemma Lee and Easton Lee; 2 brothers-in-law, Frank Parton of Smithville and James Fuson of Nashville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery with Military Honors. Leo Andrew Barber

68 year old Leo Andrew Barber of Smithville passed awayTuesday, September 5 at St. Thomas West Nashville. He was a member of Southern Cruisers, Rolling Thunder, and Patriot Guard. He was also a coach driver. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 14 at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Barber was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Enevia Sweeney Barber and a sister, Carolyn Casterlin. Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Suzanne Barber; two sons, Sean and Michael Barber of New York. Five step children, Jahn Urtz of Texas, Robert Urtz of California, Kristen Kilmartin of New York, Pamela Urtz of California, and Erin Kosidlo of New York. Nine grandchildren also survive. Larry Odell Bennett, Jr. age 49 of Brookville, IN died Saturday morning, Sept. 2, 2017 in Richmond, IN. He was born Aug. 14, 1968 in Greenfield, IN, son of Barbara Joyce Sandlin Bennett and the late Larry Odell Bennett, Sr. Larry is survived by his sons, David Bennett of Brookville, IN, Zachary Bennett of Liberty and Braiden Bennett of Brookville, IN; his mother, Barbara Joyce Day of Brookville, IN; sisters, Jennifer Wolfrum of Brookville, IN and Tina Reddick of Florida; brothers, Timothy Bennett of Florida, Michael Bennett of Lebanon and Eugene Bennett of Dowelltown; many other relatives and friends. Marie Daws Barrett age 58 of Smithville, passed away Monday evening, September 4, 2017 at her residence. She was born September 13, 1958 to her parents, the late Beecher Junior Ballew and Mable Simmons Ballew Davis. She was a member of the Allen’s Chapel United Methodist Church and worked as a secretary in the nursery business for many years. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Barrett of Smithville; children, Brad (Holly) Williams of Smithville, Keisha (Tony) Smith of Sparta, and Nikki Barrett of Smithville; 2 step-sons, Stephen (Vickey) Barrett and Bradley Barrett both of Smithville; 3 grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Gavin Williams and Zackery Smith; mother, Mable Davis of Smithville; 1 brother, Hank (Charlotte) Ballew of Clarksville. 60 year old Michael Andrew Ward of Smithville passed away Sunday at his residence. He was a press operator at Federal Mogul and a member of the McMinnville Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jonathon Willoughby will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m., Monday from 1-8 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean Martin Ward; a sister, Alice Marie Christian; brother, Murrell Lee Ward; niece, Mary Christian; nephew, Paul Ward; and mother-in-law Lorene Barnes Tramel. Doris Beshearse

Doris Beshearse age 76 of Smithville passed away Saturday evening, September 2, 2017 at her residence. She was born February 17, 1941 to her parents, the late Schuyler Bedford and Elizabeth Frances Redmon Hendrixson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Brown Hendrixson. Doris was a homemaker and member of the Short Mountain Church of God. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 55 years, Jerry Beshearse of Smithville; 3 children, Gary (Rita) Beshearse, Teresa (Darrell) Spencer and Terry (Wanda) Beshearse all of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Lacey (Daniel) Foutch, Kandy (James) Culbertson, Caleb Spencer, Amber (Ryan) Presley, Josh (April) Hunt and Allie Beshearse; 7 great-grandchildren, Hunter Winne, Lele Gurley, River Hunt, Rylan Presley, Braylyn Hunt, Bentley Hunt and Brian Hunt; 1 sister, Mertie Ann Lawrence of Smithville and several nieces and nephews also survive.
