78 year old Brystice Amanger Wright of Brush Creek died Tuesday at her residence. She was a homemaker, a Baptist, and a member of the Red Hats Club. The funeral will be Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Mike Gay will officiate and burial will follow in the family cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Wilbur Enlow and Bessie Bell Morris; a sister, Esther Rae Enlow Newman; brothers, Lagrand L. Enlow, Richard Harold Enlow, and John Henry Enlow. Survivors include her husband, Everett Wright of Brush Creek. Children, Terry and Teresa Powell of Alexandria, Jeff Powell of Dinuba, California, Ronald Powell of Nashville, Donald Powell and L.T. Franklin Ray Jones, Sr.

Franklin Ray Jones, Sr.,age 46 of Dowelltown passed away Wednesday afternoon July 26 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER in Smithville. He was born to his parents Terry Lee and Edith Darlene Hobbs Jones. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Blaine Joseph Jones; and grandparents, Millard Wayne and Ann Lillian Hobbs. Mr. Jones worked for the DeKalb County Highway Department and was affiliated with The New Beginnings Church. Survivors include a daughter, Courtney Lynn Jones of Dowelltown; a son, Franklin Ray Jones, Jr. of Watertown ;parents, Terry and Edith Jones of Dowelltown; brother, Terry Lee Jones, Jr. of Smithville; grandmother, Mildred Louise Wilker of Smithville. Several aunts, uncles, cousins,, and nephews also survive. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Steve Keaton officiating and burial will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery in Dowelltown. Visitation with the family will be Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Phillip “Chip” Williams

Thomas Phillip “Chip” Williams, 63 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Born Monday, December 14, 1953 in Lebanon, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Edsel and Lucille Driver Williams. Chip was a big UT fan, loved his corvette, and most of all loved his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Williams Towry.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta with Doug Benningfield officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 26 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.

Richard Lee Anderson

59 year old Richard Lee Anderson of Alexandria died Monday at his residence. He was owner of A & A refrigeration and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Alexandria. Billy Friel will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service at the First Baptist Church in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Parker Anderson and Mattie Nell Jones. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Paulette Anderson of Alexandria. Children, Missy and Thomas Sliger of Alexandria, Jeff Taylor of Watertown, Dusty and Anna Taylor of Nashville, and Blake and Rebecca Taylor of Alexandria. 92 year old Betty Jo Bailiff of Smithville passed away Monday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. John Carpenter will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Riley and Hattie Mae Mullican Love; her husband, Carl Ray Bailiff; brothers, Danny, Alton Parker, William Jennings, Tommy, Van, Robert Taylor, Woodrow Wilson, Cordell Hull, and Sherman Love; and sisters, Hattie Mae Evin, Margaret Launer Davis, Jewell Cantrell, and Ollie Bond. 78 year old Lawrence Milburn Evans of Smithville died Thursday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was retired from Federal Mogul and he was a Christian. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bonham Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Evans; parents, Hershell Evans and Louise Pascal Hullett; granddaughter, Jennifer Garrett; brothers and sisters, Lerlene Nelson, Cordell Evans, Donald Ray Evans, Dorothy Turner, Carl Pascal, and Jack Evans. Survivors include two sons Garey and Beverly Evans and Glenn and Jenny Evans all of Smithville. Two daughters, Gena and Dimitri Wotchinski of Montreal and Gayle and Michael Garrett of Indiana. Grandchildren, Bobbie Sue and Tim Wilson of Smithville, Jason and Maday Demick, Joe and Mercedes Demick, Jesse and Desiree Demick all of Florida, Joyce Garrett and Justin Garrett both of Indiana. 60 year old Eric Rodney Grissom of Smithville passed away Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Bernice Hayes Grissom and a sister, Jennifer Grissom. Survivors include an aunt, Mary Hitchcock and an uncle Jack Grissom. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held at the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Patricia Ailene Beene Underwood

70 year old Patricia Ailene Beene Underwood of Lebanon died at Tennova Healthcare. She was retired from Bellsouth after 30 years. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at the Liberty United Methodist Church in Charlotte, Tennessee where she was a member. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lemuel Beene and Ailene Southerland; a brother, Lemuel Beene; and a sister, Sue Vaughn. Survivors include a son, Joseph Underwood and his wife Mary Spotswood and grandsons, George, Henry, and Walker Underwood all of Franklin and a brother, Edward Beene of Liberty. Linda C. Bingham

Linda C. Bingham age 69 of Smithville passed away Monday morning, July 17, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. She was born November 21, 1947 to her parents, the late William and Ruth Bingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Wayne Binkley, Jr. She was a retired shoe factory worker and a Christian. Ms. Bingham is being cremated and there will be no services held. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Macon Knowles Judkins

95 year old Macon Knowles Judkins of Smithville passed away Saturday at her residence. She was a member of the Smithville Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church and a Corporate Secretary and Co-owner of H.J. Judkins & Sons Nursery, Inc. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Elder Paul Violet and Elder Ronald Lawrence will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maggie Vaughn Knowles; husband, H.J. Judkins; son, Marlon Judkins; granddaughter, Ann Claire Judkins; brothers, Lewis Knowles and L.D. Knowles; and sisters, Ollie Womack and Dollie Foutch. Survivors include grandsons, Jim Judkins of Smithville and Mac and Lauren Judkins of Alabama. Daughter-In-Law, LeAnn Foutch Judkins of Smithville and several nieces and nephews.
