Jason Pankey, Jr.

Mr. Jason Pankey, Jr. age 82 of Smithville and a long-time resident of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday afternoon at his residence. Mr. Pankey was born May 13, 1935 in Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Adcox Dickens. A graduate of Central High School in Murfreesboro and attended Middle Tennessee State for 2 years, he worked as a cabinet and furniture maker for Bell Brothers and then Haynes Brothers. He eventually opened his own business and built houses until his retirement. In his younger days, he enjoyed deer hunting with his friends and in retirement, his passion was fishing. Mr. Pankey was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Navy Seabees for 31 years and was a member of the Murfreesboro First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jo Faulkner Pankey of Smithville; 1 son, Jason Pankey, III and wife, Mary of Murfreesboro; 2 grandsons, Jason Isaac Pankey and Ryan Nathaniel Pankey; special friends, Jeff and Susan Goldstein and family; several nieces and nephews in the Middle Tennessee area also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Isaac Gray and Tommy Webb officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery with Military Honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM until 8 PM and Wednesday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2 PM. Violet Marie Trimble

Violet Marie Trimble age 51 of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. She was born August 26, 1965 to her parents, the late Claude “Toad” Trimble and Wanda Morris Trimble Roller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, William “Bauldy” Roller and sister, Rhonda Murphy. She was disabled. Survivors include 1 sister, Wendy (Greg) Moss of Alexandria; 2 brothers, Claude Trimble and William “Bear” (Kathy) Roller both of McMinnville; 7 nieces and nephews, Brittany (Jason) Musick, Heather Beacham, Braydon Woodlee, CJ Murphy, Ashlee (Nathan) Thomason, Whitney (Andy) Brelje and Allen Moss; several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating and burial to follow in the Morris Family Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 3 PM. Harrison “Sonny” Biles, Jr.,

Smithville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Harrison “Sonny” Biles, Jr., age 87, was born September 20, 1929 and died May 10, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.
A retired supervisor with Arnold Engineering Air Force Base in Tullahoma, TN, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of East End Drive Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Harrison E. and Catherine Spurlock Biles, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Bobbie Northcutt Biles; brother, Bobby Biles; sister, Josephine Crabtree; and great-granddaughter, Tyneisha Bell.
He was married December 31, 1994 to Jean Stokes Biles of Smithville, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Harrison Eugene (Jessie) Biles, III, Paul Biles, Billy Biles, and David Biles all of McMinnville, and Leroy (Steve) Biles of San Antonio, TX; five step-children, Timothy Tubbs of Washington, D.C., Gregory Tubbs of Cookeville, TN, Anthony (Angela) Tubbs of Smithville, TN, Darla (Stephen) Whitaker of Smyrna, TN, and Shaun Tubbs of Smithville, TN; devoted granddaughter, Charlisa Woods; brother, George Biles of Nashville, TN; four sisters, Frankie Dalton, Marjorie Martin, Sally (Frank) Smith, and Barbara Biles all of McMinnville; twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; life-long friends, Robert “Bub” Bonner and Phillip “Buddy” Smith; a host of nieces, nephews and church family; and special niece, Mary Sanders.
Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at East End Drive Church of Christ with Burnes Lyons and Phillip Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

Jim Brazier

Mr. Jim Brazier age 79 of Liberty, passed away Wednesday morning, May 10, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare in Lebanon. He was born July 14, 1937 to his parents, the late Harmon and Violet Mae Turner Brazier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Earlene Campbell and Alvarene Brazier Holloway. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, farmer and a member of The Way. Mr. Brazier is survived by his wife, Sharon Brazier of Liberty; 3 children, Steven Phillips of Wyoming, Teresa Sloat of Watertown and Brian Do of Liberty; 1 grandson, Matthew Phillips; 2 sisters, Mable Holloway of Tullahoma and Onevia Brazier of Decherd. The family of Mr. Jim has honored his request to be cremated and there will be no services held. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Wanda Poss

76 year old Wanda Poss of Smithville died Wednesday at Vanderbilt Hospital. She was a Baptist, President of Woodsmen of the World of Smithville, retired Senior Citizens Director, and she was retired from Kingston Timer. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyce Vickers and Gertie Bluhm Vickers and Bobbie Vaughn Turner. Survivors include a son, Byron Poss and Donnell, two grandchildren, Keshia Poss and Westly Poss all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. James Leonard Mabe

James Leonard Mabe, 78, died Monday, May 8, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents Haskell Johnson Mabe and Randy Ozella Luna Mabe and a brother, Wilford Mabe.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Vera Odessa Humphrey Mabe; sons, Calvin Mabe and Barry Mabe; daughter-in-law, Lisa Mabe. Leonard has four grandchildren, Heather and husband Jacob Lawrence, Tiffany and husband Robert Patrick, Chance Mabe and Jade Mabe. He has five great- grandchildren, Piper, Koda, Schuyler, Topanga and Keirra. Leonard also leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Dillard Mabe and wife Carolyn.
Leonard worked for Sparta Spoke Factory and went on to work for Hanson, Roy and Lonnie Carr for 29 years. During this 29 years Roy and Lonnie Carr became life-long friends of Leonard and Odessa. He retired at age 62 but the life-long friendship continues and will leave behind many cherished memories.
Leonard loved to hunt and fish with his sons Calvin and Barry. Many tall tales have resulted from thier endeavors.
Leonard and Odessa attended Spring Hill The Baptist Church in Walling.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Spring Hill The Baptist Church with Tim Pelham, Frank Randolph and David Lee England officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 9th from 4 until 9pm in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta, again Wednesday May 10th from
9 until 11am at the funeral home and from 12:30pm until the time of service at 3pm at the church building.

Peggy Ann Hale

Peggy Ann Hale age 80, a resident of NHC in Smithville and formerly of Alexandria passed away Friday morning, May 5, 2017 at Alive Hospice at Skyline in Madison. She was born April 3, 1937 to her parents, the late Alfred Youngblood and Velma Youngblood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hale, Jr. and a sister, Frances Hall. She was a longtime faithful member of the Cooper’s Chapel Baptist Church. A loving Mother and Grandmother, she leaves to cherish her memory a son, Danny (Donna) Hale of Liberty; 2 grandsons, Justin (Julie) Hale of Liberty and Joshua (Connie) Hale of the Blue Springs Community; 4 great-grandchildren, Zoi Hale, Silas Hale, Josie Hale and Zalie Hale; 1 sister, Goldie (Billy) Hale of Smithville; 1 brother, James Youngblood of Dowelltown. Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, May 8, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Shannon Cantrell and Joshua Hale officiating and burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria. Georgia Lee Bogle

83 year old Georgia Lee Bogle of Alexandria died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a DeKalb County native, a factory worker, and a member of the Coopers Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Gary Caplinger will officiate and burial will be in the Cripps Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Bogle was preceded in death by her parents, Metford Hobbs and Carrie Bell Parker; husband, Willie Bogle; and sons, Randy Bogle and Johnny Bogle. Survivors include children, Ricky and Beverly Bogle of Murfreesboro, Wanda and Marshall Carter of Kingston Springs, and Peggy Bogle, Mickie and Elmer Fitts, and Tina and Robert Furman all of Alexandria, and Tim and Denise Bogle of Smithville. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, and eleven great great grandchildren survive. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Bobby Lee Gay

Bobby Lee Gay age 77, of Smithville passed away Monday morning, May 1, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cloie Gay Caldwell; son, Jeffery Gay; brother, Larry Caldwell. Bobby was a nursery worker. He is survived by his wife, Jane Gay of Smithville; Michael (Brenda) Gay of Elmwood; daughter, Kristal (Mike) Selle of Villa Rica, GA; 4 grandchildren, Michael Gay, Logan Gay, Amanda Jones and Kayla Clayton; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Freda (Gene) Lumby of South Dakota, Libby (Larry) Gibbs of Smithville, Rebecca (Steve) Ritchie; 2 brothers, David (Rita) Caldwell and Wallace (Carolyn) Caldwell both of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Four year old Miguel Angel Ramirez Palomec, passed away Sunday night, April 30, 2017 at his residence. He was born June 21 2012 to his parents Miguel Angel Ramirez Petriz and Alicia Palomec Ramirez. He was affiliated with the La Hermosa UMC. In addition to his parents, he is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 5:00PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at La Hermosa United Methodist Church with Pastor Emilio Hernandez officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery.
