Walter Franklin Blair

75 year old Walter Franklin Blair of Smithville died Sunday at his residence. He was a member of the Gath Baptist Church, a retired diesel mechanic and truck driver, and a U.S. Air Force veteran. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. John Powers and Robert Powers will officiate and burial will be in the Bluff Springs Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Alma Capshaw Yeargin Blair; a sister, Lillie Mae Jones; and two brothers, Virgil Blair, Jr. and Gentry Blair. Survivors include a daughter, Sue and husband Lillard Colwell of Smithville. Two sons, Randy Blair of Columbia and Freddy and wife Denise Blair of Smithville. Six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Two brothers, Joe Atnip of Centertown and Troy Blair of McMinnville. Two sisters, Vesta Kinney and Pauline Corbin both of McMinnville. Special friend and companion Betty Spencer. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.
