93 year old Willette Hays Scott of Alexandria died Tuesday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. Born in Cottage Home of Wilson County, she was a homemaker and a charter member of the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the West Main Baptist Church. Dusty Desimone will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Sewell Scott; her parents, William Henry Hays and Nancy Alcinda Lynam Hays; and a brother, Charles Lynam Hays. She is survived by a daughter, Marlene and husband Thomas Prichard of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Beth Prichard and husband John Geer of Brentwood and Scott and wife Megan Prichard of Magnolia, Texas. Charles “Randy” Wallace age 68 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015 at DeKalb Community Hospital of an extended illness. He was born October 19, 1946 to his parents, the late Charles and Mable Mae Johnson Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bob & Richard Wallace; 2 sisters, Jennifer Finley & Janice Harbin; step-son, Jamie Webb; grandson, Gary Shuttleworth, II. Randy was a retired supervisor with Texas Boot and was a member of the Conklintown Church of God. 73 year old Thomas L. Clayton of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist and was retired from the Doyle Shirt Factory. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the New Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:30 p.m. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Edna Warner Clayton. 85 year old Wilburn Looney of the Johnson’s Chapel Community died Thursday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 3-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Looney was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church at Johnson’s Chapel and was Superintendent of Bridge Builder, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Houston and Callie Armenta Jackson Looney. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Looney of Sparta. Two sons, Dale and Talitha Looney of Sparta and Donald and Angie Looney of Smithville. One daughter, Gail and Danny Young of McMinnville. Six grandchildren, Katelyn Looney of Sparta, Jordan and Scarlett Looney of Colorado, Brooklyn and Aaron Shirah of Smithville, Heather and Adam Poole of McMinnville, Misty Shehane of Smithville, and Josh and Stephanie Young of McMinnville. Mrs. Sue Corley Willoughby, age 85, of Alexandria, TN passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Mrs. Willoughby was born July 11, 1929 in Liberty, TN, the daughter of the late Roy Corley and Alvie Burton. She was also preceded in death by Daughter; Wendy Willoughby, Infant Son; Billy Mitchell Willoughby and Brother; Jack Corley. Mrs. Willoughby married Billy Willoughby in May 25, 1951. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from TTU. Mrs. Willoughby taught in the Dekalb County School System for Forty Years, at Temperance Hall, Lower Helton, Liberty, Alexandria, and Dekalb West. She was a member of the Alexandria FCE, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Willoughby was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.
Mrs. Willoughby is survived by her Husband of 63 years; Billy Willoughby of Alexandria, TN. Son; Mark (Marilyn) Willoughby of Alexandria, TN. Daughter; Pat (J.C) Allen of Alexandria, TN. Three Grandchildren; Brittany (Andrew) Dixon of Smithville, TN, Luke Willoughby of Alexandria, TN, and Holly (Lucus) Bain of Alexandria, TN. Two Great-Grandchildren; Katie and Cole Bain of Alexandria, TN. Brothers; Roy Burton (Jackie) Corley of Missouri. Roger Corley of Smithville, TN, and Albert Corley of Liberty, TN. Mrs. Jeanette Redmon age 76 of Smithville, passed away Saturday at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born December 1, 1938 to her parents, the late Earby and Mable Turner Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Redmon and 3 sisters, Aletha Adcock, Thelma Earman, Violet Jones. She was a member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church and a retired shirt factory worker. Survivors include 2 children, Tonia (John) Bass of Sparta and Patrick (Annette) Redmon of Lebanon, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Brandy (Kris) Hale and Marin Redmon; 3 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Macey and Nixson Hale; 2 sisters, Rebecca Ervin of Smithville; Jewel (Jerry) Wiser of McMinnville; special niece, Pam Page of Smithville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Reba Lois Watson Clemons, 77 of Silver Point will be Saturday, February 14 at 11 A.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with interment in Crest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Clemons died Thursday Morning, February 12, 2015 at her home due to complications from dementia.
She was born July 28, 1937 in the Wolf Creek Community of DeKalb County (in what is now Edgar Evins State Park) to the late Leslie Grady and Mary Sallie Nixon Watson. Her family was later relocated due to the construction of the Center Hill Dam.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son Randal “RANDY” Clemons, brother Jim Grady Watson, 3 sisters Ruth Watson Wilson, Jewell Watson Price and Carleen Watson Helm.
Lois loved to work outside and care for her yard and flowers, but she found purpose in caring for the ill. She loved her children and grandchildren and was at her best while caring for others, especially her son, Randy. She tirelessly sacrificed and saw to his daily needs for several years before he passed at the age of 13.
She enjoyed owning and operating the Corner Grocery in Silver Point for over 30 years. She formed many friendships with customers and employees. Employees became family, especially Jon Stafford, whom she loved like a son and became her caregiver during the worst part of her illness. Jon was a tremendous comfort to her during the last few months. Jon provided encouragement, conversation and care with great patience and genuine respect. His dependability was a blessing to the whole family.
Lois was also blessed to be cared for by Kay Jones and Tina Brown. Our family is very fortunate to have had their love, support and prayers during this time. None of them can ever be repaid for all they have done. Galatians 6:2-Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Survivors include husband of 57 years Clyde “GOAD” Clemons (Married September 21, 1957 in Ringgold, GA.) , daughter Judy Riggsbee, son David Clemons all of Silver Point, 5 grandchildren: Tylr and Mason Clemons of Cookeville, Daniel and Nathan Riggsbee both of Cookeville, Julie Riggsbee of Silver Point, 2 brothers and a sister-in-law Carlon and Dot Watson , Jim Watson all of Baxter.
Active Pallbearers will be her 4 grandsons along with Jon Stafford and Danny Riggsbee.
Bro. Tony Crow will officiate.
Family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 P.M and Saturday after 9 A.M. at the funeral home.

56 year old Teresa Hale Waggoner of Smithville died Thursday at Centennial Medical Center. She worked on the Federal Mogul Assembly and attended the Snow Hill Methodist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Kenneth Clayton will officiate and burial will be in the National Veterans Cemetery in Nashville. 73 year old Freddy Brown Taylor of McMinnville and a DeKalb County native died February 10, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness.
A nursery worker and a member of Dayspring Community Church, he was the son of the late Robert and Myra Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Jerry Lee Taylor; step-sons, Bruce Glenn and Greg Glenn; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Taylor; sisters, Oma Tramel and Darlene Crimmes.
He was married to Melba Jean Hall Taylor of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Gladys Frances Marr and husband Jimmie of Smithville, TN and Eddie Leroy Taylor of Smithville, TN; two step-children and spouses, Rhonda and Darrell Hillis of McMinnville and Denise and Tim Newby of McMinnville; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Grady Taylor, Joe Lane Taylor and James Robert Taylor all of Smithville, TN, and Louie Taylor of Texas; special niece, Louise Ferrell and husband Glenn of Smithville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
