Wanda Stanley Wallace

Wanda Stanley Wallace age 63 of Smithville, passed away Monday evening at her residence. Wanda was born January 2, 1952 to her parents the late L.D. Stanley and Helen Taylor Stanley. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Wallace, 1 son, Jamie Webb, 1 grandson, Dalton Knight. She was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church and was a caregiver and was a longtime employee at Kingston Timers. Survivors include 1 daughter, Jennifer (Ricky) Guinn of Smithville; 3 step-daughters, Rhonda (Royce) Moore of Dowelltown, Renae (Ryan) Edmonds of Bon Air, and Yvonne (Shannon) Hale of Smithville; 10 grandchildren, Sebastian Knight, Dammien Irvine, Josh & Justin Webb, Jayrah & Leah Cooper, Bobby O’Connor, II, Michael Shuttleworth, Kathryn & Kaleb Hale; mother, Helen Stanley of Smithville; 2 brothers, Larry (Phyllis) Stanley and Dennis (Donna) Stanley both of Smithville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 3:PM Friday, June 19, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Jonathan Willoughby and Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. David “Dave” Allen

58 year old David “Dave” Allen formerly of Smithville has died in Florida.
He is survived by his wife Sue, sister Nanci, brothers Chris, Tommy, Michael, and Patrick, and grandchildren Dakota and Dillon
His brother Rob predeceased him.
Memorial services will be held at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, Florida on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2 p.m.

Kathy Lynn Corona age 50 of Smithville, passed away Thursday night, June 11, 2015 at DeKalb Community Hospital ER. She was born May 3, 1965 to her parents, the late Woodrow Delano Lawson and Janet Lou Adlington Lawson. Kathy was a Baptist and was employed at Shiroki North America. She is survived by her husband of 30 yrs., Kenneth Corona of Smithville; 1 daughter, Brittney Corona of Murfreesboro; mother, Janet Lawson of Kentucky; 1 brother, Woodrow Lawson of Kentucky; nephew, Woody Lawson; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kathy’s request was to be cremated and there will be a Memorial Service held 1:PM Friday, June 19, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial of her cremains will be at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be on Friday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1:PM. Margaret Irene Anderson Roberts

Margaret Irene Anderson Roberts age 85 of Jacksonville, Fl and longtime resident of Donelson and native of DeKalb County. She was born July 10, 1929 to her parents, the late Edgar and Della Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ora Lee Hale Anderson; husband, Olon Roberts; son-in-law, Pete Schwab; 2 brothers, Charles Anderson and Clifton Melton. Ms. Roberts was a member of the Donelson Nazarene Church and a retired secretary with Baptist Hospital. She is survived by 2 daughters, Olona (Garry) VonStorch of Mt. Juliet and Darlene Schwab of Jacksonville; 3 grandchildren, Daniel Estey, Jr., Kristen (Donald) Thomas, Jessica (Rob) Huff; 4 great-grandchildren, Olon Rhea Key, Brittaney Robinson, Lilly Huff, Kara Huff; 2 sisters, Billie Simpson of Smithville, Fay Armstrong of Woodbury; 1 brother, E.L. (Brenda) Anderson of Liberty; sister-in-law, Corrine Melton of Liberty and a host of family and friends. Trena Willann Braswell Curtis

52 year old Trena Willann Braswell Curtis of Smithville died Thursday at her home. She was a DeKalb County native, a retired 2nd grade teacher with the DeKalb County Board of Education at Smithville Elementary School for 24 years. Trena was a 1987 graduate of Lee University, and a member of the Alexandria Church of God. She loved playing the piano and organ at the numerous churches that she and her husband had the privilege to pastor. She was also a founding member alongside her husband of the DeKalb/Cannon County Amateur Radio Club, and loved to crochet.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. Jeff Armstrong, Clifford Spence, and Terry Hart will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. The body will then be moved to the church where visitation will resume until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
Trena was preceded in death by her parents, Truman Allen Braswell and Louise Redman Braswell. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, William Freddy Curtis of Smithville and her four sons, Fredrick Matthew Curtis of Smithville, Trent Braswell Curtis of Morrison, Casey Warren Curtis and Haley of Alexandria, and Evan Madison Curtis of Smithville. Grandchildren, Ella Mae Curtis and Elliott Witt Curtis of Morrison. A brother, Ricky A. Braswell of Knoxville. Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Fred Earl and Diana Curtis of Alexandria. Brother-in-law, John Curtis and Rachel of Mount Juliet. Two uncles, R.L. Redman and Earlene of Smithville and Charles Braswell of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; and numerous cousins, friends, former students and colleagues of Smithville Elementary School. Evalena Turner Redmon

71 year old Evalena Turner Redmon of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. She was a Baptist, member of the Eastern Star, and retired owner of Redmon Nursery. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Eastern Star services will be announced later. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ella Mai Turner; one son, David Ray Redmon; sisters, Halena Driver, and Arlon Rose Cobble; two brothers, Elton and Jerry Wayne Turner; and father of her children, David C. Redmon. Survivors include a daughter, Wetonia “Sissy” Redmon of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Bradley Redmon of Smithville, Ashley and husband Gary Redmon-Murry of Soddy Daisy, and Hailey Redmon of Smithville. Sisters, Helen and Malcom Turner of McMinnville and Ruby Parsley of Smithville. Brother, John and his wife Glenda Turner of Smithville. Jacob Morgan “J.M.” Bratcher age 80 of Woodbury, passed away June 9, 2015 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born June 5, 1935 to his parents, the late V.E. and Ila Oakley Campbell Bratcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 son, Jeffery Bratcher; 2 brothers, Donald Bratcher and Jerry Bratcher; 1 sister, Wanda Brown. He was a retired construction worker, attended the Blues Hill Church of Christ and was a U.S. Army Veteran. J.M. is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jonell Bratcher of Woodbury; 3 sons, Barry (Regina) Bratcher of Freystade, Germany, Jason and Joel Bratcher both of Woodbury; 3 grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob and Vanessa Bratcher; half-brother, Barton (Phyllis) Todd of McMinnville; several nieces , nephews and cousins. John Robert Underhill

79 year old John Robert Underhill of Alexandria died Tuesday at Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. He was a DeKalb County native, a member of the Tennessee National Guard, and a retired TVA employee. Underhill was a member of the Cooper’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Thurman Seber and Gary Caplinger will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service. Underhill was preceded in death by his parents, Shelie Valter Underhill and Cora Owen Patterson Underhill; his wife, Shelvie Jean Willoughby Underhill; and a brother, Morgan Underhill. He is survived by a son, James Robert Underhill of Alexandria. A daughter, Jean Yvonne Campbell of Alexandria. Regina Hope Cantrell Bates

Regina Hope Cantrell Bates age 61 of Smithville passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at NHC HealthCare Center of an extended illness. She was born August 29, 1953 to her parents, the late Lee and Dean Hall Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Olivia Grace Taylor and 1 sister, Darlene Haas. She was a factory worker and was a member of the Smithville Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include 2 children, Cindy (Ken) Taylor of Smithville and Freddy Summers and companion Darlene Grisham of Dowelltown; 4 grandchildren, Shauna, Abbi and Kenlee Taylor and Devin Summers; 3 brothers, Jerry Lee (Jane) Cantrell of Smithville, Ronnie (Judy) Cantrell of McMinnville, Phillip (Marilyn) Cantrell of Smithville; Several nieces, nephews and family survive. Funeral services will be conducted 3:PM Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 3:PM until 8:PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 3. Jimmy “Hammer” Davis

64 year old Jimmy “Hammer” Davis of Sparta died Saturday morning at his residence. He attended the Johnsons Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was an LPN with Home Healthcare. Davis was also a U.S. Military Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. The funeral will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service at 3 p.m. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Leona Blaylock Davis; two sons, Scott and Josh Davis; a brother, Jr. Davis; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Rice. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Connie Rice Davis of Sparta. Three grandchildren, Kyra Agee and Kylee Davis both of Smithville and Madison Davis of Sparta. Two brothers, Less and wife Regina Davis and Jack and wife Mary Ann Davis both of Sparta. One sister, Beulah and husband Lester Taylor of Sparta.
