Audrey Vandagriff Frazier

85 year old Audrey Vandagriff Frazier of Smithville and formerly of the Dry Creek Community died Monday. She was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church, factory worker, and UCHRA driver. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jim Roy Frazier; parents, John Floyd and May Farler Vandagriff; sister, Cornelia Collins and husband Jim; brother, Joe Vandagriff; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Claudia Bryant and Roy Frazier; sister-in-law and husband Annette Bass and Trevor Jordan; brother-in-law, Sherwood Burt. She is survived by sons, James Richard and wife Janet Frazier of Troutville, Virginia; William David and wife Freda Frazier of the Jefferson Community and Randall Frazier of Dickson; daughter, Sherry Elaine Frazier and husband Harry Williams of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Cathy Fuson Frazier of Newport; sister, Helen Burt of the Dry Creek Community; sister-in-law, Fay Vandagriff and husband Harold Elrod of Smithville; brother-in-law, Jack and wife Helen Frazier of Clarksville. Seventeen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry Wayne “Popcorn Man” Evans

74 year old Jerry Wayne “Popcorn Man” Evans, a McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native died Friday at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital following a brief illness.
A retired employee of Carrier Air Conditioning Company, United States Air Force veteran, member of Air Guard for twenty years and a member of Christ United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Gentry and Louise Burton Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Peterson.
He was married to Donna Davenport Evans of McMinnville. In addition to his wife of fifty-one years, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Evans of the Centertown Community; granddaughter, Sarah Evans of the Centertown Community; aunts, Mrs. Johnnie Hobson of Ardmore, Mrs. Billie Cook, Mrs. Jo Evans, Mrs. Edith Evans and Mrs. Frankie Evans all of Smithville, sister-in-law, Patsy Davenport Askew; niece, Pam Davenport; great-nephew, Davis L. Cantrell and numerous cousins.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in High’s Chapel in McMinnville with Lorin Pedigo officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High’s.

Flonnie Hazel Waller

93 year old Flonnie Hazel Waller of McMinnville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center in McMinnville. She was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. Waller worked at the Smithville Shirt Factory for many years. A graveside service and burial will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Michael Hale will officiate. No visitation will be held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. Waller was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Pearlie Self Caplinger; her husband, Andrew Boyd Waller; a daughter, Hazel Boyd Waller; and brothers, Delton and Walter Caplinger. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Gary Howell of Dahlonega, Georgia. A granddaughter, Deborah Leigh of Cummings, Georgia. A niece, Frankie and husband Jack Watkins of Clemons, North Carolina. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Sonya Lynn Foster Sullivan

44 year old Sonya Lynn Foster Sullivan of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Coal City High School in Coal City, Illinois (Class of 1987). She resided in Smithville for the past 18 years. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Eugene Adkins will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Survivors include her parents, Joe and Sue Wallace Foster. One daughter, Karie Padgett of Smithville. One son, Tyler Fewell of Morris, Illinois. Ronald Willard Moses

Mr. Ronald Willard Moses, Age 63 of Alexandria, TN passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Riverpark Hospital in McMinnville, TN.
Mr. Moses was born May 31, 1949 in Athens, TN, the son of the late Willard and Gertrude Williams Moses. He was also preceded in death by his sister, ,Joann Barber. He married Mary Lou Patterson on May 17, 1980. Ronald grew up in Knoxville and then lived in Dallas, TX for 25 years. He moved to Alexandria in 1994. He was self-employed as a collector, being known around town as Alexandria’s Picker.
Mr. Moses is survived by his wife; Mary Moses of Alexandria, TN., Five Children; Ronald David (Kim) Moses of Cookeville, TN, Christie Lynn (Michael) Alexander of Woodbury, TN., Iesha Ann Moses of Knoxville, TN., Shannon Moore of Florida, and Rodney (Teresa) Buckmeyer of Texas. Eight Grandchildren; Eric, Amanda, Logan, Junior, Shawn, Brandon, Justin, and Destiny. Sister; Maxine (Ron) Loveday of Kodak, TN, Sister; Kenny (Marilyn) Moses of Knoxville, TN.
Funeral Services for Mr. Moses are scheduled to be conducted 2PM Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Avant Funeral Home. Bro. Scott Turner will officiate and Interment will follow in the Hillview Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the Moses family will be at Avant Funeral Home on Saturday from 4PM To 8PM and again on Sunday from 1PM until service time at 2PM.

Arthur Clevenger

48 year old Arthur Clevenger of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was disabled. He is survived by two sisters, Tammy and husband Rickie Wagner of Smithville and Susie Maddux of Roseburg, Oregon. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with expenses, in lieu of flowers. The family has chosen direct cremation. Jannie Bell Higgins

70 year old Jannie Bell Higgins of Madison died Wednesday at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was a Methodist and owner of a hair and nail salon. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Milton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence Goode Lorance and her husband, Robert Higgins. Survivors include brothers-in-law, Tony and wife Diane Higgins of Alexandria, Jerry and wife Harriett Higgins of Whitehouse, Carl and wife Diane Higgins of Nashville, Donald Higgins of Dickson, James Higgins of Dickson, and Charles and wife Eleanor Higgins of Jacksonville, Florida. Roger Dale Vinson

56 year old Roger Dale Vinson of Sparta died Monday at the DeKalb Community Hospital. Roger was born in White County to the late James Floyd and Ella Pearl Cantrell Vinson. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers: James Edward Vinson, Robert (Dick) Vinson, and John Vinson and Sister: Hilda Lois Vinson.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda Rose Vinson of Sparta. A daughter: Ashley Vinson of Sparta. Two sons, Jason and wife Melinda Lewis of Sparta and Chris and wife Tia Lewis of Sparta. A brother, Alfred Vinson. Two sisters, Talitha and husband Dale Looney of Sparta, and Carolyn Murphy of Sparta. Sister-in-Law, Carol Rose of Sparta. Grandchildren: Joe, Emily, Tim, Andy, Abby, and Christopher Dale Lewis. Several Nieces, nephews, and friends
The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Lee Neal and Tommy Lee Davis will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
