Lorell Parsley Hobson

84 year old Lorell Parsley Hobson of Smithville, affectionately known as “Mama Lo” died Wednesday at her daughter’s residence. She was a retired garment factory worker. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Smithville First United Methodist Church where she was a member. Terry Little will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.V. and Ophia Parsley and brothers, Howard and Chester Parsley. Survivors include daughters, Rita and husband Hugh Don Cripps and Gingie Braswell all of Smithville. Grandchildren, John and wife Leigh Ann Braswell of Brentwood, Heath Braswell of Nashville, Holly and husband Phillip Hendrix of Smithville, Rachel and husband Jeff McCarter of Cookeville, Martha and husband Steve Cooper, and Sarah Cripps and husband Mack Garner all of Smithville. Great grandchildren, Matthew Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Jacob McCarter, Caroline McCarter, Claire McCarter, Tori Cantrell, Jakeb Braswell, Holden Hendrix, and Grayson Hendrix. Sisters, Peggy Johnson, Sue and husband David Foutch all of Smithville. Sisters-in-law, Grace Parsley of Smithville and Johnnie Hobson of Ardmore. Nieces and nephews, Teresa Caldwell, Sue Higham, Cynthia Shannon, Randy Hobson, Larry Parsley, and Ricky Parsley. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that donations be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp or to the First United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers.
