Bro. Bobby Colvert

79 year old Bro. Bobby Colvert of Dowelltown died Thursday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He served as an Evangelist/Minister for 50 years and he was an owner/operator of a local business in Smithville. Colvert was also a farmer. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Seminary. He later founded the Covenant Baptist Church in Smithville. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Thurman Seber, Richard Williams, and Bobby Thomason will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Colvert was preceded in death by his parents, Obadiah and Bessie Lee Bass Colvert; his wife, Barbara Colvert; and a brother, James Bass Colvert. Survivors include his children, John and wife Karen Colvert of Murfreesboro and Lou Ann and husband Steve White of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Kelly Colvert and Matt Wiley, Jason Baker Colvert, and Grant Colvert all of Murfreesboro; Camry Lou Colvert White, Carlee Colvert White, and Chloe Colvert White all of Smithville. Three great grandchildren, Kaylin Colvert Wiley, Lyla Dawn Wiley, and Piper Ann Wiley all of Murfreesboro. One brother, Freddy and wife Linda Colvert of Smithville. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Herndon of Smithville, Bill Baker of Cassville, and Mary Louise Fitzgerald of Lafayette, Indiana. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
