Lelon Thweatt

92 year old Lelon Thweatt of Smithville died Tuesday at his residence in the Jefferson Community. He was retired from the State and he served two terms as DeKalb County Road Supervisor from 1974 until 1982. Thweatt was also a Baptist and a Mason. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Terry Fesler and Garry McBride will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Thweatt was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Doll Adcock Thweatt; his first wife, Betty Ann Cantrell Thweatt; a daughter, Diania Cantrell; a granddaughter, Wanda Powers; and three brothers, J.T., Cecil, and Buford Thweatt. Survivors include his wife, Keeble Maynard Thweatt and two daughters, Martha and her husband Darrell Rowland and Linda Sykes all of Smithville. One son, Harold Thweatt of McMinnville. Nine grandchildren, Phillip and Debbie Thweatt of McMinnville, Christie and Bryan Carter of Cookeville, Becky and Kyle Thompson of Murfreesboro, Todd and Jenny Cantrell of Smithville, Chad Rowland and Fiance Jennifer Trahan of Hendersonville, Sonya and Steve Dzyban of Nashville, Tonya Stewart of Nashville, Glenda and Steve Johnson of Smithville and Scott Sykes of Smithville. Seventeen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and one son-in-law, Charles Cantrell of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
