Charlie Alfred Hood, Jr.

82 year old Charlie Alfred Hood, Jr., retired from Bell South and resident of Skelley Lane, died Friday at Centennial Medical Center.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols in Columbia with Curtis Dowdy and Charles Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided at graveside by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Charlie A. Hood, Sr. and Bessie Shannon Hood. He was a 1946 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. He worked as a tollboard testman for Bell South Telephone Company for 43 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Hood was a long-time member of Highland Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Theola Oakley Hood of Columbia; son, Ricky Wayne (Sherri) Hood of Smithville; grandsons, Chris Hood and Dustin Hood; sister, Peggy McEwen of Columbia; special nephews, Jerry (Shirley) Oakley of Santa Fe and Jimmy (Fay) Oakley of Decatur, Alabama; several other nieces and nephews.
Oakes & Nichols in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
